100-Day Clothing Brand Building Course

As you scale, one area becomes particularly important

Before We Begin

Most people start a clothing brand without understanding product creation, sourcing, marketing, pricing, and brand building. This 100-day course is built to help you understand the path before you start working on it.

This course is created from the real experience of building and scaling Offnorth Fashions into a multi-crore clothing brand over the last 6+ years.

Let’s take a step back and talk about something that feels “big” in the minds of many new brand owners – warehousing.

Do you really need it? If yes, when? And if not now, when will it actually make sense?

When you’re starting, the truth is you probably don’t need a fancy warehouse.

A spare bedroom, a garage, a small rented office – these are more than enough to store your stock and pack orders. This keeps costs low and control high, because you’re the one physically handling the product.

But as your business grows, two things can change that:

  1. You run out of physical space.

  2. You want faster delivery across the country (same-day or next-day shipping).

That’s when third-party warehousing starts to make sense.

These are storage facilities in metro and Tier-2 cities where you can send your products in bulk. They charge a storage fee – often around ₹5 per unit per month – plus a handling fee whenever an order is shipped. Seems small, but here’s the reality check:

If you store 2,000 products, that’s already ₹10,000 a month in storage. Add handling fees, return processing fees, and it adds up quickly.

And if your marketing isn’t strong enough to keep products moving, you’re basically paying rent for stock that’s just sitting there.

There’s also compliance to think about. Warehouses are sometimes inspected by government officials, and you need to make sure your products have all the required labels – MRP, manufacturer details, “Made in India,” barcodes, etc.

One of our client brands in Bangalore got hit with a ₹40,000 fine because a few products didn’t have complete label details. These things matter.

The upside? Once you’re scaling thousands of units, nationwide, customers –  warehouses can store your products closer to where your customers live.

Orders from Delhi can ship from a Delhi warehouse, orders from Mumbai from a Mumbai warehouse, cutting delivery time from 5 days to 1–2 days.

This speed is often the difference between a happy repeat customer and a one-time buyer.

So, here’s my advice: If you’re in the early stage, skip warehousing. Keep stock with you, control costs, and learn the ropes.

When you reach the point where delivery speed and storage space are limiting your growth, that’s when you start looking at warehousing seriously.
