Building Long-Term SEO for Your Clothing Brand
Most people start a clothing brand without understanding product creation, sourcing, marketing, pricing, and brand building. This 100-day course is built to help you understand the path before you start working on it.
This course is created from the real experience of building and scaling Offnorth Fashions into a multi-crore clothing brand over the last 6+ years.
I want to shift the conversation to something less flashy but far more powerful over time: long-term SEO.
When I say “long-term SEO,” I don’t mean doing some keyword research, adding a few blog posts, and waiting for magic. I’m talking about a methodical process where, step by step, you make your brand the go-to answer whenever someone searches for anything related to your product category.
So how do we actually build it? Let’s think about it like planting a Supima cotton tree. You don’t just throw seeds in the soil and walk away. You plant, water, prune, and wait. SEO is exactly that.
It starts with knowing what your customers are searching for. This is where the Search Console we spoke about recently becomes your best friend. Let’s say you see people searching for “best heavyweight t-shirts in India,” “supima cotton vs bamboo t-shirts,” or “how to choose the right size in polos.” These aren’t just searches – they’re topics your customers want you to talk about. So, we list them down.
Next, we create content that answers those exact questions better than anyone else. Not fluff, not filler - but detailed, helpful guides. For example, if you’re writing about “Supima cotton vs bamboo t-shirts,” don’t just define them. Talk about how each feels on the skin, which is better for hot climates, which lasts longer after 50 washes, and how each performs in printing or embroidery. Add your own product links, but in a way that feels natural, not pushy.
Then comes on-page SEO. That’s where we optimize titles, meta descriptions, headings, and image alt texts - not with random keywords stuffed in, but with the same language your customers use. If people search “oversized black crew neck,” that’s what should be in your product title, not “Men’s stylish premium upper garment.” Keep it simple, searchable, and human.
After that, we think about the website structure. Every product category, size guide, return policy, and blog should logically link to each other. The more internal links between your important pages, the easier it is for both Google and customers to find them.
But here’s the part most people skip - consistency. Long-term SEO isn’t about doing a big burst of work in January and then forgetting about it until December. It’s about showing up every month with new content, optimising old pages, adding fresh photos, improving load speed, and making sure your site is mobile-friendly. Google rewards freshness, but it also rewards trust.
Over time, you’ll start to notice something beautiful – you’re not just getting traffic for your brand name anymore. You’re getting traffic for category searches, “how-to” queries, and comparisons. That’s when SEO really starts compounding, because you’re reaching customers before they even know your brand.
And here’s a small story to close this: one of my early clients started with just their brand name showing up in Google. Within 18 months of consistent, focused SEO, they were ranking for over 200 non-brand keywords. The sales that came from that? Pure profit, because there was no ad spend attached. That’s the kind of freedom long-term SEO gives you. It keeps paying you back, month after month, year after year.
