100-Day Clothing Brand Building Course

Designing Your T-Shirts for Your Customer Avatar

Before We Begin

Most people start a clothing brand without understanding product creation, sourcing, marketing, pricing, and brand building. This 100-day course is built to help you understand the path before you start working on it.

This course is created from the real experience of building and scaling Offnorth Fashions into a multi-crore clothing brand over the last 6+ years.

Once you finalise your niche and create the customer avatar, the next step is crafting the t-shirts for your CA.

List what clothing you can sell to these customers. Design for them. I do not mean the printing or embroidery design here. It can be anything from fabric, GSM, print, sleeve style or whatnot. Craft the entire t-shirts for your target audience.

For example, if your target audience is film lovers, you can create normal cotton t-shirts with film quotes printed on them. That is what you are selling. But, if your target audience is someone who loves extremely soft t-shirts and loves to go and rap, you can design Supima t-shirts at heavy GSM, which are oversized.

You get the point, right?

You design everything in the t-shirt for your target audience.

Once you finalise that, you can make a mockup and send it to your target audience. Ask for feedback. If you make these t-shirts, will they buy from you?

If they like it, awesome. Your entire target audience in this world likes your tee. You are good to go in the real world.

If your target audience doesn't like these tees, ask them what they don't. Collect feedback and improve.

Repeat the process. You have to be sure that whatever you are building should be liked by your target market.

At least 80% of your target audience should like your product. If only 50% likes it, either fine-tune the design or fine-tune the customer avatar.

Look at what these 50% have in common, which the remaining 50% do not. Then, test again with another set of people who are similar to the ones who like these designs. If these people also like it, it means it's time to fine-tune the target audience.

You can create multiple styles of designs for your target audience. Only one or two products will not be enough to sustain the market and reach 1 crore within 12 months.

Create at least 5-6 clothing styles. Once you are all set with the product design, what's next?

Yes. Finding the right manufacturer.
