100-Day Clothing Brand Building Course

The truth about smart checkout solutions

Before We Begin

Most people start a clothing brand without understanding product creation, sourcing, marketing, pricing, and brand building. This 100-day course is built to help you understand the path before you start working on it.

This course is created from the real experience of building and scaling Offnorth Fashions into a multi-crore clothing brand over the last 6+ years.

we talked about how you can save ₹10,000+ per month on Shopify costs by switching from Shopify’s native checkout to smarter options like GoKwik or Razorpay Magic Checkout, right?

But what exactly are these tools? Let’s break it down.

Imagine a normal checkout process on your Shopify store.

Customer adds to cart → clicks checkout → enters name, phone number, email, address → chooses payment method → makes payment.

Simple. But long. Too long.

Now, imagine if this entire flow could be compressed into under 30 seconds – with auto-filled data and smart payment routing.

That’s what smart checkouts like GoKwik and Razorpay Magic Checkout do.

So, what exactly is GoKwik or Magic Checkout?

These are plug-and-play checkout tools that replace Shopify’s default checkout.

They’re built to improve conversion rates, reduce RTOs (Return-to-Origin), and offer a faster, smoother shopping experience.

Here’s the experience in action:

Let’s say I visit your store for the first time. I add a product to the cart → click “Buy Now” → I’m asked to enter just my phone number.

Now the magic begins:

If I’ve ever placed an order on any other site that uses GoKwik – like boAt, Mamaearth, or Neeman’s – my address auto-fills instantly.

No typing. No delays. And with 1-click, the order is placed. That’s it.

Why does this matter?

Because most customers drop off at checkout. They’re in a hurry. They forgot their card. They get distracted. Something feels fishy.

But if the checkout takes 25 seconds instead of 2 minutes and already knows them, the chances of conversion skyrocket.

We’re seeing that happen in our own store.

What about COD orders?

Here’s another killer feature: COD Risk Prediction.

GoKwik uses data from 2000+ brands to judge whether a customer placing a Cash on Delivery order is likely to:

  • Accept the package

  • Or just disappear and waste your shipping cost

Based on the risk, you can either accept, auto-convert to prepaid, or reject high-risk COD orders.

For example, if someone has a history of not accepting CODs on 3 brands before, GoKwik flags it.

This saves you thousands in unnecessary RTO losses.

Sounds great. But are there any downsides? Yes, a few things to consider honestly:

  1. Slight delay during phone number verification – around 5 –10 seconds while sending OTP

  2. You’re handing over part of the checkout experience to a third-party, so brand control is a bit limited

  3. Some customers might feel weird about their data auto-filling (even though it’s secure and they consent by entering their number)

But overall, for most D2C brands, the benefits far outweigh the concerns. Especially once you start scaling. What about Razorpay Magic Checkout? Razorpay Magic Checkout is another solid option.

It works similarly – fast checkout, pre-filled address, lower RTO, bundled payment gateway.

It’s also from a trusted Indian payment giant – so if you’re already using Razorpay, this can be a smoother transition.

The main difference?

GoKwik specialises in D2C brands and performance - they’re more focused on conversion optimisation, upsells, repeat rate, and things like that.

Razorpay is more infrastructure-focused – stable, reliable, and good for larger businesses or those who want fewer moving parts.

My honest take?

If you’re selling fashion or any impulse-buy product, GoKwik is killer. Faster checkout + lower COD risk =  more profit.

If you’re already with Razorpay and want a safer option with lower fees, Magic Checkout is also great.

Try both. Measure your conversions. Go with the one that performs better for your audience.
