100-Day Clothing Brand Building Course

Why Creating a Customer Avatar Is So Important

Before We Begin

Most people start a clothing brand without understanding product creation, sourcing, marketing, pricing, and brand building. This 100-day course is built to help you understand the path before you start working on it.

This course is created from the real experience of building and scaling Offnorth Fashions into a multi-crore clothing brand over the last 6+ years.

we spoke about finding a niche for our clothing brand. Did you find that out yet?

If you have finalized the niche, awesome. Let's move further.

We need to create a customer avatar now.

First, what is the customer avatar?

A customer avatar (also called a buyer persona) is a detailed profile of your ideal customer. It's like creating a character that represents the type of person you're building your brand for.

Instead of marketing to "everyone," you focus on one person – their life, habits, goals, problems, and preferences – so your messaging, product design, and ads can speak directly to them.

A good customer avatar should include the person's name, age, gender, location, job, income level, goals, pain points, interests, shopping habits, values, favourite platforms (like Instagram or YouTube), and what influences their buying decisions.

How do you draft this? An easy way is to create a survey form and ask potential buyers to fill it out. Then, when you take the average of these submissions, it is your customer avatar.

There are two factors here.

One - you should not send the survey to all the people in your contacts. Filter out who the right target audience is and send to them only.

For example, if you are creating a brand for entrepreneurs, list down who all you know who are building businesses and share the form with only them.

If you send it to everyone, the result will lead to wrong positioning.

Second, you should get as many submissions as possible.

You should not create a CA from 10 submissions. As per the law of large numbers, the larger the data we have, the better the result prediction is.

Try to get at least 100 submissions. If possible, 500 or 1000.

"100? I don't know 100 entrepreneurs. How can I get 100 submissions?"

If you don't have 100 entrepreneurs in your contact list, go out. Go to a business forum and make friends. Let them know you are creating a customer avatar and ask them to fill out the survey. If you do not collect sensitive information, people will be more than happy to fill it out.

Spend time and complete this activity. If you can complete this activity along with finding the niche, 50% of the work is done.

All the 100 remaining tasks combined will contribute to 50% of the work.

So, spend time, think deeply, do more research and complete these two activities.
